On Wednesday, April 29th the Michigan Realtors® Broker Summit brings together elite brokers and Realtors® from around the state to address current real estate and market trends that impact their bottom-line. Our focus this year is risk management.

For the 17th annual Broker Summit we return to The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth. The Broker Summit is open to all Michigan Realtors® members and affiliates. Justice Richard Bernstein

Broker Summit Keynote & Emcee

Justice Richard Bernstein became the first blind justice, elected by voters statewide, to the Michigan Supreme Court in November 2014. With a commitment to justice and fairness, Bernstein began his 8-year term in January 2015. Prior to being elected to Michigan's highest court, Justice Bernstein was known as a tireless advocate for disabled rights as an attorney heading the public service division for The Sam Bernstein Law Firm in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Blind since birth, Justice Bernstein is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan and earned his juris doctorate from Northwestern University School of Law. Committed to taking action to help clients who needed him, Justice Bernstein's cases often set national standards protecting the rights and safety of people with and without disabilities.

Charlie Y. Lee

Associate Counsel, NAR

Charlie Lee joined NAR in 2018. He has ten (10) years of association law and governance experience. Prior to joining NAR, Charlie was with the Appraisal Institute since 2008, where he served as Associate Counsel and as the primary legal counsel to 90 chapters, and subsidiaries which included for-profits, charitable and insurance organizations. Charlie’s focus included trade association, corporate governance, not-for-profit taxation, cybersecurity, contracts, intellectual property, advertisement, employment and antitrust matters. He also has professional experience in commercial and employment litigation, intellectual property, and serving as an Illinois state’s attorney appellate prosecutor. He received his B.S. degree in Business Administration and Management of Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated cum laude from the John Marshall Law School. Charlie is admitted to the state bar of Illinois and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations, ASAE, and the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Steve Pacinelli

A passionate storyteller by nature who measures his success by helping people reach their potential, Steve Pacinelli serves as BombBomb's Chief Marketing Officer. Recently, Steve co-authored the definitive guide to better business communication, Rehumanize Your Business. Prior to leading the charge of the "relationships through video" movement, he led a sales team winning with BombBomb. He was a Sales Manager, Vice President of Events, and the National Speaker for Realtor.com, and presented to more than 1,000 audiences along the way. Thematically these presentations focus on online marketing, video communication, lead conversion, consumer psychology, and sales automation. However, craft beer, photography, motorcycles and Steve’s family of five always made a cameo.

Robin Schneider

Robin Schneider serves as the executive director of the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association. The MICIA is Michigan's largest cannabis trade association, currently representing more than 200 licensed businesses and the companies that service them. The association acts as a united voice for medical and adult-use cannabis businesses and advocates a responsible and successful industry by promoting sensible laws and regulations and industry best practices among members.

FBI Fraud Discussion

Acting/Supervisory Special Agent (A/SSA) Eric Newburg has been employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 25 years. A/SSA Newburg has worked Complex Financial Crimes, Violent Crimes, Special Operations Group, and Counter Terrorism investigations. A/SSA Newburg previously supervised both the Heath Care Fraud and Complex Financial Crimes Program. Additionally, A/SSA Newburg served as an operator on the FBI’s SWAT team for 10 years. A/SSA Newburg again oversees the FBI Detroit's Complex Financial Crimes Program, which investigates Corporate Securities and Commodities Fraud, Financial Institution Related Fraud, Money Laundering Facilitation, and Theft of Intellectual Property Rights.

Intelligence Analyst (IA) Nishawn Spiller has been employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for three years. Currently assigned to the FBI Detroit, IA Spiller is the subject matter expert for the Complex Financial Crimes Program, which includes Corporate Securities and Commodities Fraud, Financial Institution Related Fraud, Money Laundering Facilitation, and Theft of Intellectual Property Rights. IA Spiller is also a licensed attorney and serves as a mediator for the DOJ’s Mediator Corp.
