District Director Elections

2021 Michigan Realtors® District Director Elections 

Voting opens September 8, 2020 12:01 am EDT.

Michigan Realtors® members living in Congressional Districts 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, and 14 with active NRDS ID numbers as of August 27, 2020 are eligible to vote in this election. Home address determines voting district.

Michigan Directors: There are six districts holding elections this year.  Nominations have already opened for all six districts. Nominations will be held open until July 24, 2020. Voting will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 (30 days from the Delegate Body Meeting) and voting concludes at Midnight on the day of the Delegate Body meeting. Questions can be directed to Brian Westrin.

Important Dates 

  • Deadline to file for District Director - July 24, 2020
  • Voting for Directors will open online on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. 
  • Voting will conclude at Midnight on the day of the Delegate Body meeting.
  • The nomination process for NAR Director will be announced when the number of open Director Positions is determined by NAR based on July 31st membership numbers.

How Voting Works

Each REALTOR® member may cast no more than one vote for a candidate for Michigan REALTORS® District Director.  A vote cast by a REALTOR® member for a Michigan REALTORS® District Director shall be cast for a director representing the Michigan REALTORS® District in which that REALTOR® member resides. REALTOR® members that reside outside of Michigan shall be able to cast a vote for Michigan REALTORS® District Director for the Michigan REALTORS® District in which the Local Association office building is located.

  • FIND YOUR DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE

The criteria for Michigan Realtors® District Director are as follows:

  • Three years as a Michigan Realtors®  member, and currently a member
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan
  • No license law violations that are indicative of moral turpitude
  • Principal place of residence in the district elected to represent
  • Demonstrated leadership by one or more of the following:
    • Prior or current director or officer of a local association
    • Prior or current president of a Michigan Realtors® affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level
    • Demonstration of participation in the Michigan Realtors® (i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums)

 

If you feel that you or another interested member fit these criteria, please confirm that the interested member lives in a Michigan REALTORS® district that is up for election in 2020. For ease of reference, those 2020 districts up for election are districts 1, 4, 6, 9, 11, and 14.


Officers (President, President-Elect, and Treasurer) criteria:

  • Three years as a Michigan Realtors® member, and currently a member
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan
  • No license law violations that are indicative of moral turpitude
  • Current or prior Michigan Realtors® Director
  • Nominated by a Current Michigan Realtors® Director

2021 NAR Director Elections

NAR Directors are voted on by the Delegate Body at the Delegate Body meeting at the State Convention. This year’s convention is being held October 7 – 9, 2020 at the Amway Grand Plaza & DeVos Place in Grand Rapids. NAR Directors will serve a three-year term beginning 2021. The number of open NAR Director positions will be determined by July 31, 2020 and noticed to the membership immediately thereafter with the dates of the nomination process included in that mailing. 

  • Three years as a Michigan REALTORS® member, and currently a member;
  • Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan;
  • No license law violations that are indicative or moral turpitude;
  • Demonstrated leadership by one or more of the following:
    • Prior or current director or officer of a local association or the state association
    • Prior or current president of a NAR affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level
    • Demonstration of participation in the National Association of REALTORS® (i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums).
