Michigan REALTOR® Graduates NAR Leadership Academy

REALTOR® Focus: Matt Case

Spring signals a time of commencement, and REALTORS® from across the country recently celebrated their own graduation of sorts, as they completed the National Association of REALTORS®’ Leadership Academy. Among the 2011 graduating class was MAR District 2 Director and TAAR member Matt Case. The commencement ceremonies were held during the 2011 REALTOR® Midyear Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C.

Matt has served on numerous leadership positions with the Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® and has been honored as one of Northwest Michigan’s most influential people under 40 years of age via the Traverse City Business News “40 Under 40” for the past 4 years. Aside from serving as MAR district 2 director and an RPAC trustee, Matt was instrumental in creating Michigan’s Young Professionals Network Chapter. A 1996 graduate of Northwood University, where he also met his wife, Matt resides in Beulah with Tammy and their three sons.

“REALTORS® bring value to home buyers, sellers and investors, and the NAR Leadership Academy gives REALTORS® the skills they need to bring value to the association and the real estate industry as a whole,” said National Association of Realtors® President Ron Phipps, owner of Phipps Realty and Relocation in Warwick, Rhode Island. Now is the time to ‘seize the day,’ and the Leadership Team and I are confident that the 2011 Graduates of the NAR Leadership Academy have the strength, wisdom and skills to shape a bright and positive future for our industry and our nation.”

The NAR Leadership Academy is a nine-month, five-session training and development program structured around national REALTOR® meetings. REALTOR® members who served leadership roles at the local and state level, but who have not yet been actively involved in leadership positions at NAR, are encouraged to apply. The Leadership Academy helps participants develop their leadership knowledge and abilities to eventually assume a national role. Candidates are asked to complete an application that includes questions on issues and topics that impact the business of real estate, their civic involvement and leadership aspirations.

An advisory council selected a handful of REALTORS® for the leadership program that began in August 2010 at NAR’s Leadership Summit in Chicago and concluded during the Midyear Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C. The volunteer leaders were presented to NAR’s Executive Committee as their final confirmation of leadership training.
