The last 15 years have been a series of progressive responsibility and leadership. Starting at the Committee level with my local association (WWOCAR), I participated in and chaired several committees, was elected to the Board of Directors, elected Treasurer, President-Elect and then, during my term as President the members changed that position to a 2 year term. Additionally I am currently a Director for the National Association of Realtors (3 years) and prior to that I was the WWOCAR appointed Director for the National Association of Realtors ( 2 years) . Also, for the last 4 years I have been a member of the NAR Risk Management Committee and as a MAR Director I am on the Finance and Broker Summit committees.
In 2005, as Treasurer for my local association, I developed a contingency plan in the event the Association would experience a membership loss from 4200 members to 2800 members. As President-Elect, along with two other members on the Executive Committee, I proposed the Association explore a member billing option to pay their MAR/NAR/Association dues on a monthly basis which was implemented last year. As President I formed a PAG to increase the awareness of Realtor Etiquette and Professional Courtesies. This was so successful that my regional MLS, Realcomp, incorporated it into its Strategic Plan and created a “Meeting in a Box” program for all its broker members.
As a strong advocate for the viability of Realtor Associations, I shared a common vision with several other visionary Southeastern Michigan Realtors in the merger of two large associations. The driving force was to better prepare for the transition we see in Real Estate, a move from the traditional Education centric model to a well financed technology model driven advance Professionalism, Government Advocacy and Education.
With these qualifications, I ask for your support as a NAR Director for the next 3 years.
