Our livelihood as a Realtor is constantly being challenged by legislation and regulation at both the federal and state levels. These challenges have recently been expanded through litigation by third party and Internet interests attacking the core business models under which we have successfully operated under for many years. Recently we have another factor affecting our livelihood, the changing economic conditions in Michigan that have adversely affected our industry.
As your representative for the 11th District for the Michigan Association of Realtors, I will represent you for the challenges we face today and prepare us for what lies in the future.
It has often be said; “Everyone is for change as long as I don’t have to change.” Instead of reacting to abrupt departures in our ever-changing business models, we can evolve naturally with the changing business climate through Vision and Preparation. In 2005, I led a team of visionary WWOCAR leaders that looked into the future and projected what lie ahead for the Association. As a team, we prepared a plan that addressed the loss of 8%, 16% or even a 24% reduction in members. Our goal was to not only survive if those events should occur, but to thrive by providing our members more needed services without raising dues. We planned for downsizing without harming the high quality services and core values our members have come to expect. We succeeded in that plan and during these turbulent times, WWOCAR members are being offered more services and the type of programming that will help them be more effective in the marketplace .
As a Director for the Michigan Association of Realtors, I have been appointed to the Finance Committee for 2009-2011, attended and participated at every MAR leadership functions, MAR Liaison for 2010 Brokers Summit, and have been a Sterling “R” Contributor for RPAC for the last 4 years. As your Director for District 11, I have always represented you in being a good steward of your finances, I have always represented you in raising the professionalism in our industry, I have always represented you in protecting the rights of property owners and I have always represented you in promoting issues important to Realtors. For 2011 and 2012, I pledge to continue being your advocate on these issues.
As an active Realtor, I am familiar with the everyday challenges our members face. Whether it’s technology, advocacy or just working towards solutions that will assist us with our daily professional lives, the Michigan Association of REALTORS® can be there to assist our members, and I would like the opportunity to be there to represent your interests.
When it comes time to vote for your representative at MAR, I ask that you consider voting for me. As you’re representative for the 11th District, I would represent you with Leadership, with Preparation and with a Vision of the future.
