Beth Foley - President
 

1986 was the year Beth started in the Real Estate business after having been in private practice and academia as a dental hygienist. She has been a volunteer for the real estate community for almost 25 years. Education has always been a passion for success and accountability in her professions. Beth holds her GRI, Associate Broker, CRB, CRS and RSPS. At the MAR, she has served on the finance, grievance, professional standards committees, Broker Summit task force, FPC for District 2, vice chair of the redistricting task force and was elected district 2 Director for 2005 and 2009. Beth was elected to serve as 2010 Treasurer of the MAR. At the local associations, she was the first president of the WMLAR, she served as treasurer, MLS chairperson, Pro standards co-chair, served on every committee possible, and has taught courses for orientation. Beth was REALTOR®  of the Year in 2000. Her education includes a RDH and BS in education from the Ohio State University, and a MA in Teaching and Educational Psychology from Western Michigan University and the University of Northern Iowa. She participates in competitive tennis with the USTA Western Michigan teams. This keeps Beth competitive in her business and healthy for her life’s career.

 
Bill Milliken - President-Elect
 

Bill Milliken, CCIM, CIPS, launched his career in real estate in Ann Arbor in 1987. Milliken Realty, which he formed in 1996, was named Best of Michigan Business in 2008. Previously, he worked in Washington, D.C. for NASA and the U.S. Dept. of Justice. Bill is serving his third term on the board of the CCIM Institute, where he has held numerous leadership positions. He was a delegate on CCIM’s trade mission to China in 2006. He has been named REALTOR® -of-the-Year by the Ann Arbor Area Board and the Commercial Board of REALTORS® , respectively. Bill was elected to the board of directors of New DETROIT in 2010; serves on the board of the Washtenaw Community College Foundation; was president of the Commercial Board of REALTORS®  (2006); a director of Republic Bancorp, and; board chair of the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce. He graduated from Colorado College and is a licensed private pilot.

 
Carol Griffith - Treasurer
 

Carol Griffith is a 3rd generation REALTOR®  serving Livingston County. Carol and her brother Scott Griffith (past MAR President) have owned and operated ERA Griffith Realty in Brighton since 1981. As a lifelong resident of Livingston County, Carol has been a consummate volunteer and advocate for her profession and community. Carol’s involvement with the Livingston County Association of REALTORS®  includes holding nearly every leadership role: Past President, Director, Committee Chair of RPAC, Chair of Professional Standards, Finance, Strategic Planning and Public Relations. Carol has been named twice as Livingston County’s REALTOR® -of-the-Year. In addition Carol continues to be recognized by her franchise for notable sales production. Carol has served two terms as MAR Director, 2011-Treasurer Elect, RPAC Trustee, Finance Committee and serves as Chair of Public Policy. In 2011 she received the prestigious award of: Realtor Active in Politics. Giving back to the community is a priority for ERA Griffith Realty. Carol continues to serve numerous leadership positions and affiliations with the following organizations: Howell Rotary, Brighton and Howell Chamber of Commerce, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Advisory Board, Helen’s Circle for Cleary University and Livingston County Hunger Council. Additionally Carol is an elected official serving a second term: Livingston County Commissioner.

 
Bob Adamowski - Local AE Representative 
 

Bob has been the Association Executive of the Bay County REALTOR®  Association since 1995. First licensed in the real estate business, and has been a REALTOR®  member since 1980. He received his Brokers license in 1983. Bob has served on many committees as well as treasurer and president elect for the local association prior to moving on to the association office. He is currently President of the Michigan REALTOR®  Association Executive’s Council, serving for the second time. Bob was also on the MAR RPAC Trustee Committee for a number of years. He received his RCE designation in 2004 and e-Pro designation in 2005. Bob is heavily involved in various local community organizations such as the local Rotary Club and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the local Bay County economic development group, Bay Future, Inc.

 
Randy Thomas - MiCAR Representative
 

Randy Thomas, President and CEO of Insite Commercial, has been involved in various aspects of real estate since 1987. Randy attended Michigan State University and earned degrees in both biological science and criminal justice. He was formerly Vice President of the Retail Division at Schostak Brothers and Co., where he was responsible for property assemblage, working with anchor tenants, sale and leaseback of commercial properties, and development of commercial land. Randy is the 2011 President of the Commercial Board of REALTORS®  (CBOR), where he also sat on the board from 2001 - 2005, he also served as president in 2004. Randy was the recipient of the 2004 and 2011 “REALTOR®  of the Year” award presented by the Commercial Board of REALTORS® .

 
Stu Kingma - MiCAR Representative
 

Stuart J. Kingma, SIOR, joined The Wisinski Group in 1994 and offers services that include the sales and leasing of commercial and industrial real estate. Mr. Kingma has over 22 years of experience in sales and marketing which includes 17 years experience dealing exclusively with commercial and industrial properties. This focus and experience allows Mr. Kingma to provide his clients with the most up to date information regarding changing market conditions and property availability that affect their real estate investments and decisions. In 2011, NAI West Michigan merged with The Wisinski Group to form NAI Wisinski of West Michigan.


Thomas Paarlberg - Large Office Representative
 

Native of the Chicago area. Graduate, DePauw, B.A. Philosophy, 1974. REALTOR®  since 1976. Associate Broker, owner of Greenridge Realty, Inc. since 1980. Designations include; GRI, CRB, and AHWD. Tom has served in numerous capacities with the Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS® , including President in 1996. He has served in various roles with MAR including two terms on the board of directors as large broker representative. Tom is currently serving on the SWMRIC manager board.

 
Kelly Sweeney - Large Office Representative
 

Kelly received his BBA from the University of Michigan in 1975. His real estate career started in 1986 at Weir Manuel REALTORS®  in Birmingham. He is now the CEO Broker/Owner of Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel. He served as the city assessor and city treasurer for the city of Birmingham as well as serving on various committees for the Birmingham Bloomfield Rochester South Oakland County Board of REALTORS® . Kelly served on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce from 1989 to 2000, and was awarded the Commerce Business Person of the Year Award in 1997. He also received the Birmingham Community House Community Service Award in 2003. Kelly served on the Board of MiRealSource MLS from 2002 - 2009 and was the Treasurer from 2005 - 2008. He has been on the board of the Michigan Consolidated Association of REALTORS®  since 2004 and was President in 2010. In 2008 he was voted as MCAR’s REALTOR®  of the Year.

 
Furhad Waquad - Past - President Representative

A REALTOR®  for over two decades, Waquad is a sales executive with Real Estate One, Inc., specializing in residential sales. He holds a designation from the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS). He is also an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), a Graduate, REALTOR®  Institute, (GRI) and a Certified International Property Specialist. (CIPS) SFR & BPOR. Waquad served as NAR President’s 2009 Liaison for International Resort and Second Home Real Estate Group. He served on the 2009 PAG on India, as well as the President’s Liaison in 2008 - 2009. Waquad has served on numerous NAR Committees and is the FPC to Senator Debbie Stabenow from 2004 to 2012. He was also the Regional Vice President for Michigan and Ohio in 2011. He served as chair for numerous committees at the state level as well as serving as the State President in 2007. In 2003 Waquad was named Michigan’s REALTOR®  of the Year and in 2002 received Michigan’s REALTOR®  Active in Politics Award.

District 1 - Jason Copeman
 

Jason W. Copeman, GRI, is a Broker/Owner with 19 years experience in Marquette and the North Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He is active on his local Board of Directors, has served as the Upper Peninsula Association of REALTORS®  President, has twice been chosen as his local REALTOR® -of-the-Year and in January will begin a term as his local association Treasurer. Jason is also active on his local MLS Committee and serves as Chairperson of the Upper Peninsula Association of REALTORS®  Data Sharing and Cooperative Research Committee to pursue and promote ways to build stronger REALTOR®  relationships and cooperation. Jason met his wife Tammy in high school and they have four children; Wesley (12), Joshua (11), Olivia (9), and Isaac (3).


District 2 - Matt Case
 

Matt Case, GRI, Associate Broker, Vice President of Business Development, Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies. Matt is a Past President of the Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® , and served on the Strategic Planning and Search Committees for TAAR prior to that. Since then has served as RPAC chair. Elected as MAR Director to represent District 2 beginning in 2010, he is one of 26 graduates of the National Association of REALTORS®  Leadership Academy class of 2011. Matt’s passion for empowering young REALTORS®  to make a difference in their industry led him to co-found the REALTOR®  Young Professionals Network (YPN) for Michigan in 2010. A graduate of Northwood University, where he also met his wife, Matt resides in Beulah with Tammy and their three sons.


District 3 - Lola Audu
 

Lola has been involved in the real estate community in West Michigan for more than 15 years. As one of the early adopters of social media in Michigan, she wrote and taught the initial coursework in Social Media and Blogging that was certified for Continuing Education in the State of Michigan in 2007. She has also conducted courses on emerging technology at the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, several REALTOR®  associations and other business organizations. Through the years, Lola has been actively involved in her local REALTOR®  association in various capacities including service as a director and on committees and task forces. She was elected to serve as the President of the Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS®  in 2011. She was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by the Western Michigan Council Women’s Council of REALTORS® . She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison (Bachelor of Science) and holds the following real estate designations: Graduate Real Estate Institute (GRI), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Short Sale Foreclosure Specialist (SFR) and the e-Pro certification for competence with managing online transactions. In addition to her love of real estate and technology, she is an avid reader, music lover and enjoys engaging conversation with an interesting and eclectic group of friends.


District 4 - Rick Loose
 

Rick Loose, REALTOR® , e-PRO has 10+ years of real estate experience with Ayre Rhinehart REALTORS®  in Midland, Michigan. He has served as President/Director for the Midland Board of REALTORS®  and has served on several board committees. Rick was selected Midland Board of REALTOR’S®  “REALTOR®  of the Year” for 2009. He currently chairs the Midland City Housing Commission and is active on The Leadership Midland Steering Team.


District 5 - Art Yeotis
 

I started my real estate career in Boulder, Colorado, with the Boulder Board of REALTORS®  just before the Carter Presidency. I was active as a broker in Colorado until I moved back to Michigan 20 years ago and pursued my Michigan license. Before getting my Colorado license I served in the Army for two years, one of which I spent in Vietnam as a tank commander, earning the Bronze Star with the V device. Upon my return to Colorado I attended the University of Colorado majoring in sociology. Leaving the university I purchased a bar and restaurant in the small mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, which I operated for 20 years and during that time I served on the town board for 8 years and as Mayor for 2 of those years. As a member of Flint Area Association of REALTORS®  I have served on the MLS committee, served as a beta tester on the committees that chose the last two local MLS programs, served as a member of the BOD and am currently chair of the Broker Support Unit. I am a strong believer in RPAC and donate annually. I am currently president of my church parish and serve on the city of Fenton land development finance authority.


District 6
- Pam Whitcraft
 

Pam has been in this business since 1992 and has been very involved in her profession. She saw the value of further education and completed her GRI, ABR and CRB designations by 2004 and has been an active member of the ERC Council since 1996. She has volunteered her time in the Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS®  by serving as chair, or vice chair for various committees, as well as served as a member of several task force committees over the years. For the past 9 years, she has sat on the local board of directors. She also moved through the ranks in her local SWMAR/REIS as Treasurer-2005, President-Elect 2006 then President in 2007. She was awarded the prestigious President’s Cup from the local Association in 2008. More local involvement includes representing the local association of REALTORS®  as a Manager of the SWMRIC board in 2007 and 2008. On a higher level, Pam served as the SWMAR District 6 Director from 2001-2004. Since the turn of the new millennium, Pam has shared her leadership skills as a member of Cressy & Everett Real Estate’s management team, by serving as the Associate Broker/Branch Manager of their Edwardsburg Michigan office. Pam has raised her family and worked in southwestern lower Michigan since 1977. She and her husband Dick have 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren.


District 7 - Matt Davis
 

Matt Davis, GRI, ABR, Associate Broker and 1992 Graduate from Miami University in Oxford OH, has been actively involved with both his community and REALTOR¨ associations throughout his 14-year career. Matt is a second generation REALTOR¨ and grew up in the business at Rosemary Davis, REALTORS®  in Marshall, Michigan. Since becoming a REALTOR®  in 1997, Matt served 12 years on the Battle Creek Area Association Board of Directors including 2 stints as President, was BCAAR’s REALTOR®  of the Year in 2004 and 2006 and still serves on many local board committees such as MLS, Government Affairs and Pro-Standards. At the state level, Matt chaired the MAR Public Policy Committee (current member) as well as the RPAC Trustees (current member), and was the proud recipient of the MAR REALTOR®  Active in Politics (RAP) Award in 2005. Matt was also recently appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder as a professional member of the State Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons. Nationally, Matt was appointed as the Michigan RPIC (REALTOR®  Political Involvement Committee Member) for NAR in 2006, and in that position serves as a “whip” for Michigan’s 16 Federal Political Coordinators (FPC’s) as well as coordinating NAR grassroots activity in Michigan. He was FPC for former Congressman Joe Schwarz (MI-7) and is the current FPC for Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-7), and has served on the NAR Grassroots Strategic Plan workgroup and the NAR Public Policy Coordinating Committee.


District 8 - Ron Zupko
 

Ron Zupko is an Associate Broker at ReMax Platinum in Brighton and has been a REALTOR®  serving Livingston County and the surrounding areas for 20 years. Born and raised in Detroit, Ron moved to Howell in 1979 after serving 4 years in the U.S Navy and has been a resident of Livingston County ever since. Prior to real estate, Ron was the owner of a residential building company in Howell, MI. He is currently a co-owner of a successful real estate team along with his wife Jan who is also an Associate Broker. They are both full time REALTORS®  operating at ReMax in Brighton. Ron has served on many committees at the Livingston County Association of REALTORS® , was a member of their Board of Directors for 8 years and served as President of the group in 2002 and 2007. He was named Livingston County’s REALTOR®  of the Year in 2003. Ron has served as a manager of a large real estate office in Brighton and also as the Principle Associate Broker at a smaller independent firm in Howell. Ron has two grown children and two young grandsons that he says “I enjoy immensely”, whenever time allows!


District 9
- Nanci Rands 
 

Nanci Rands is an associate broker with Hall and Hunter, Christie’s Great Estates in Birmingham. She was the 2006 President of Metropolitan Consolidated Association of REALTORS® (MCAR), and its 2007 REALTOR® of the Year. Nanci was then recognized as MAR’s REALTOR® of the Year. She was also named to the Crain’s Detroit Business list of the 100 most influential women. Nanci served as the 2008 MAR RPAC Chair and 2009 Major Donor Whip. She is an NAR director 2009 – 2011 and the Federal Political Coordinator for Senator Carl Levin. Nanci is an NAR RPAC trustee representing District 6 (Michigan and Ohio), 2010 – 2011. Nanci is the national chairman of Project Interchange, a non-profit organization, that sends influential’s to Israel for educational and fact finding seminars. She is also a member of the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee.


District 10 - Tom Kotzian
 

Tom Kotzian, JD, GRI, has been a manager for the past 30 years in REALTOR®  associations and residential brokerage. Tom was the first Executive Officer of the Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®  , Executive Vice President of the Macomb County Board of REALTORS®  and past President of the Michigan Executive Officers Council. Tom earned his undergraduate degree in education from Central Michigan University and his Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. Tom is a certified instructor and administrator in professional standards for the National Association of REALTORS® . He was selected as the Michigan Association of REALTORS®  Instructor-of-the-Year and was the author of the GRI I and GRI II courses. Tom is currently a GRI instructor for the Michigan Association of REALTORS®  and was the Contractual Researcher for the State of Michigan’s mandatory continuing education course outline from 1989-92. He has served as the MAR Parliamentarian for over 25 years. Tom is a past-president of the Metropolitan Consolidated Association of REALTORS®  and REALTOR® -of-the-Year. Tom was the past Chairman of the State of Michigan Board of Real Estate Brokers & Salespersons. He was also the Birmingham-Bloomfield WCR Member-of-the-Year and Lake Pointe WCR Entrepreneur of the Year. Tom and his wife, Lynda, have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. He is the Team Leader for Keller Williams Lakeside in Shelby Township.


District 11 - Gordon McCann
 

Gordon McCann, GRI, e-PRO, Associate Broker, has been a REALTOR®  in the Plymouth community since 1995. As a member of the Western Wayne Oakland County Association of REALTORS®  he was a Director, 2004 to 2008; Treasurer, 2005: President Elect, 2006; and President 2007-2008. In 2008 he was elected as a District 11 Director to the Michigan Association of REALTORS®  for 2009 and 2010 and in 2010 he was re-elected a Director for 2011 and 2012. At the National Association of REALTORS® , Gordon was a Large Board Director in 2007 and 2008 and a member of the Risk Reduction Committee 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Also, Gordon was elected as a Michigan representative to a 3 year term as NAR Director for the 2009, 2010 and 2011.


District 12 - Gerald Miller
 

Gerry Miller has been a licensed REALTOR®  since 1978 and a broker since 1985. He is currently with Real Estate OneÊin Clinton Township. He has served on the board of directors for the Metropolitan Consolidated Association of REALTORS®  (MCAR) from 1995-1996, served as the MCAR Government Affairs Committee Chair, the MCAR RPAC committee chair and was honored as the MCAR REALTOR®  Active in Politics in 2005 and is a continual RPAC supporter. Gerry was as a National Association of REALTORS®  director in 2001-2004 and was appointed to serve on the NAR Public Policy Committee in 2004. His passion has been politics and lobbying through grass roots efforts and is proud of the things we represent as REALTORS®  - homeownership and the preservation of property rights.


District 13 - George Smale
 

George is a sales manager / associate broker with Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel Real Estate at the Grosse Pointe office in Metro-Detroit. He was first licensed and became a REALTOR®  in January, 1979 with Schweitzer Real Estate Better Homes & Gardens at their Grosse Pointe Farms office. Obtained his broker’s license since 1982, appraiser’s license in 1991, became a manager for Schweitzer in 1982, managed the Grosse Pointe office(s) since 1986, was Director of Sales & Operations for Coldwell Banker Schweitzer Real Estate from 1993 to 2004 and is an approved real estate prelicense instructor in the State of Michigan. He holds the designations of CRB, CRS, ABR, GRI, RAM, and RAA. His association involvement is as follows: a member of the Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®  since inception; a member of Greater Metropolitan Association of REALTORS®  since 1979; President, Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®  in 2009 & 1993; REALTOR®  of the Year, Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®  2009 & 1993; on the Board of Directors for the Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS®  2012-2014, 2006-2010 & 1989-1994; on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Consolidated Association of REALTORS®  2003-2005; served on numerous committees for both GPBR, MCAR and MAR over the years; on the Board of Directors for Real Estate Alumni of Michigan 1992-1995; a member Women’s Council of REALTORS®  since 1993; a member of Detroit Association of REALTORS®  and a past GRI instructor for the Michigan Association of REALTORS® . Also, he serves yearly on the Tax Assessment Board of Review for the City of Grosse Pointe Farms.


District 14 - Trish Lentz
 

Trish Lentz started her career in real estate in 1973. She trained with Real Estate One in Taylor and took real estate classes at the University of Michigan Real Estate School. Trish has always been very active in the community. During those days she worked with the boy scouts and girl scouts to help grow strong minds in the children around her. Trish also volunteered to teach an art class at the grade school near her home. After 10 years of training and experience, Trish opened her own company called “BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT GROUP”. The firm handled mostly commercial, industrial and business opportunities. During this time Trish took various CCIM Courses to improve her knowledge of the commercial world. In 1990, Trish and her husband, Kenneth Lentz, purchased their own building in Taylor and changed the name of their company to Hallmark Realty, Inc. and began to sell residential real estate along with commercial. Their business grew rapidly and Trish became more active with the local association. Trish chaired the first Equal Housing Committee Downriver. She sat on the grievance committee for many years and was a director for ten years. Trish worked her way through the chairs of the Down River Association and finally served as president in 1995. Trish was chosen as REALTOR®  of the Year for the Down River Association in 1996.


District 15 - Tom Long
 

Tom Long, ABR, AHWD, GRI. Tom is a Past President of DRAR and was a Director from 2004 to 2010. He has served as the DRAR Government Affairs Chair and DRAR RPAC Chair. In addition to his association involvement, he also works with local municipality departments and committees on real estate and community issues. He is a member of the Michigan Moose Association State Board and Administrator of the Taylor Moose Family Center. Tom has served on the MAR Board since 2009.
