Carol Griffith - President

Carol S. Griffith - President of Michigan Association of REALTORS; is a 3rd generation REALTOR. Carol and her brother Scott Griffith (past MAR President) have owned and operated ERA Griffith Realty in Brighton since 1981. As a lifelong resident of Livingston County, Carol has been a consummate volunteer, and advocate for her profession and community. Her involvement with the Livingston County Association of REALTORS includes holding nearly every leadership role over the past 30+ years. She has been named Livingston County REALTOR of the Year three times. Carol has served two terms as MAR Director before being elected Treasurer, and President Elect of the Board. She is a past Chair of the Public Policy Committee and has served on numerous committees including RPAC Trustee, and Finance. In 2011, she received the prestigious REALTOR- Active- in- Politics award. Carol serves as a Director for the National Association of REALTORS, and REALTOR Party Trustee. Giving back to the community is a priority of ERA Griffith Realty. Carol continues to serve numerous leadership positions and affiliations: Howell Rotary, Brighton and Howell Chamber of Commerce, Cleary University Helen’s Circle, and more. Carol is also an elected official: Livingston County Board of Commissioners since 2009. Commissioner Griffith currently serves as Chairwoman of the Board of Commissioners.

Gene Szpeinski - President-Elect

Gene has been a REALTOR since 1976 and has served on nearly all Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS committees and task forces; including a term as Director from 2003-05, and on the MLS Exchange Board of Directors 2004-2006 serving as its President in 2006. He was awarded GRAR’s REALTOR of the Year in 2001. He is also a member of The Commercial Alliance of REALTORS where he has been a member of the Political Affairs Committee from 2008-14. Szpeinski has served on the Board of Directors for the Commercial Board of REALTORS since 2012. He served on the MAR RPAC Trustees from 2002-07, the MAR Public Policy Committee in 2012-13, the MAR Finance Committee 2012-13, the MAR Convention Task Force in 2013, as well as the MAR Board of Directors from 2008 to 2011. He was elected in 2012 as the MAR Treasurer for 2013. Szpeinski is a member of the NAR Land Use, Property Rights and Environment Committee from 2004-14, and has been appointed to the Commercial Committee for 2014. Szpeinski has extensive experience working with local and state officials, and has developed 12 home/condo neighborhoods in Kent County.

Gary J. Reggish - Treasurer

Gary J. Reggish, CRS, SFR, Luxury Home Marketing, Class of 2012 NAR Leadership Academy, Broker/Owner of Remerica United Realty, Novi. Reggish has been a REALTOR since September 1999; President of WWOCAR 2009-2010; Board of Directors for the National Association of REALTORS 2009-2013; Vice Chair NAR Major Investor Council 2013; Chair NAR Major Investor Council 2014; State and Local Issues Committee for the National Association of REALTORS 2007-2011; Federal Housing Policy Committee for the National Association of REALTORS 2012; Major Investor Council Member representing Michigan for the National Association of REALTORS 2012-2013; Board of Director for the Michigan Association of REALTORS; Treasurer-Elect for the Michigan Association of REALTORS 2013; Chair of the RPAC (REALTORS Political Action Committee) Trustees for the Michigan Association of REALTORS 2012; RPAC Trustee for the Michigan Association of REALTORS 2010-2013; Chair of 2012 Broker Summit (MAR); Convention Committee (MAR) 2009-2010; served 3 years on the Grievance Committee (WWOCAR) and 2 years on the Professional Standards Appeals panel; two years on the Risk Reduction Committee for the WWOCAR; 2007 and 2010 REALTOR of the Year (WWOCAR); 2012 REALTOR Active in Politics (MAR). Reggish was elected to the MAR Board of Directors for the 2013-2014 term.

Melissa Tee - Local AE Representative 

Melissa has been the Association Executive with the Jackson Area Association of REALTORS since 1992. She was previously employed by the Ann Arbor Area Board of REALTORS as the assistant executive vice president. Tee graduated from Eastern Michigan University. She currently holds the RCE designation and the e-PRO certification through NAR. She has served as President of the Michigan REALTOR Association Executive Council twice, as well as serving on many of their committees over the years. She has served on several MAR Committees and on the NAR Communications Committee. She is currently Assistant Vice President on the Great Lakes Repository Board. Tee is also active in various local community organizations and currently serves on the Jackson County GIS Policy Board.

Sandy Covaleski - MiCAR Representative

Sandra Covaleski, CCIM, Associate Broker/Owner of Commercial Equities began her career in commercial real estate in 1999, and established her brokerage in 2003 in the Great Lakes Bay Region. She earned her B.B.A. from Saginaw Valley State University, and is an Accredited Business Accountant. Covaleski also earned her C.C.I.M. (Certified Commercial Investment Member) Designation in 2011, and is currently a Director of the CCIM Michigan Chapter. She served as a Director and Treasurer of the Commercial Board of REALTORS (CBOR) for the state of Michigan from 2003 - 2010. Covaleski is a member of the Commercial Board of REALTORS, National & State CCIM Chapters, Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Noon Optimist Club, and Energize Bay Area Young Professionals. Covaleski works diligently in a professional manner to bring the right parties together and create a win-win situation.

Rod Alderink - MiCAR Representative

Rod Alderink, Associate Broker, has been a REALTOR in Grand Rapids since 1987. As a member of the Commercial Alliance of REALTORS (West Michigan) he was a Regional Task Force Member, 2002; Director, 2004 - 2006; Secretary, 2005; Treasurer, 2006; and Director, 2009 - 2011; Secretary, 2009; President Elect, 2010; and President, 2011. From 2005 to the present he has served on the MiCAR Committee of the Michigan Association of REALTORS. At the National Association of REALTORS, Alderink was appointed to the Commercial Committee in 2010, and continues to serve in this capacity. Alderink was also appointed to NAR’s Commercial Legislation and Regulatory Advisory Board for 2014.

Thomas Paarlberg - Large Office Representative

Thomas is a native of the Chicago area and a graduate of DePauw, earning his B.A. in Philosophy in 1974. He has been a REALTOR since 1976 and the Associate Broker/Owner of Greenridge Realty, Inc. since 1980. Designations include; GRI, CRB and AHWD. Have served in numerous capacities with the Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS, including president in 1996. Thomas has served in various roles with MAR, including two terms on the Board of Directors as large broker representative. He currently serves on the SWMRIC manager board.

Kelly Sweeney - Large Office Representative

Kelly received his BBA from the University of Michigan in 1975. His real estate career started in 1986 at Weir Manuel REALTORS in Birmingham. He is now the CEO Broker/Owner of Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel. He served as the city assessor and city treasurer for the city of Birmingham. As well as serving on various committees for the Birmingham, Bloomfield, Rochester, and South Oakland County Board of REALTORS. Sweeney served on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce from 1989 to 2000, and was awarded the Commerce Business Person of the Year Award in 1997. He also received the Birmingham Community House Community Service Award in 2003. Sweeney served on the Board of MiRealSource MLS from 2002-2009, and was the Treasurer from 2005-2008. He has been on the board of the Michigan Consolidated Association of REALTORS since 2004, and was President in 2010. In 2008 he was voted MCAR’s REALTOR of the Year.

Beth Foley - Past - President Representative

I was the 2012 President of MAR. Prior to serving as the board president, I was President- Elect and Treasurer. I served as District 2 Director, and am currently FPC for District 2. Along with these office positions, I have served on MAR finance committee, Broker Summit, Convention Committee, 100 year MAR Celebration committee, 2013 President of Midwest AMG, Personnel Committee, and the Audit Committee. Along with these great volunteer positions, I am an Associate Broker with Summit Properties in Holland. I practice residential sales along the lakeshore in a small boutique company. I have been in real estate since 1986 and thank this career for many successes and meeting wonderful people. I hold a MA, BS, CRB, CRS, GRI, and RSPS. Education, integrity, honesty, and accountability are very important to me. The real estate career has given me many opportunities, and I believe in giving back by volunteering to my profession. Aside from real estate, I love to play competitive tennis and am a member of the USTA Travel Team.

District 1 - Jason Copeman

Jason W. Copeman, GRI, is a Broker/Owner with 21 years experience in Marquette, and the North Central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He is active on his local Board of Directors and has served as the Upper Peninsula Association of REALTORS President. Copeman has been chosen twice as his local REALTOR-of-the-Year, and has served as his local association Treasurer for two years. Copeman is also active on his local MLS Committee and serves as Chairperson of the Upper Peninsula Association of REALTORS Data Sharing and Cooperative Research Committee to pursue and promote ways to build stronger REALTOR relationships and cooperation. He is in his second term serving on the MAR Board of Directors, and has recently been appointed to the NAR Multiple Listing Issues and Policies Committee for a 3 year term. Copeman married his high school sweetheart, Tammy, and they have four children; Wesley (14), Joshua (13), Olivia (11), and Isaac (5).

District 2 - Gordon Naumoff

Gordon J. Naumoff, GRI, CNS, RAM, Designated Broker and office Manager for the Muskegon and Whitehall Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt offices, and Director of Business Development for Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies. Naumoff has been a licensed REALTOR since 1974, and a Broker since 1976. Naumoff was the last serving President of the North Ottawa Board of REALTORS. He served on multiple board committees throughout his career, including the task force for merging the Muskegon, North Ottawa and Holland boards, and forming the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of REALTORS (WMLAR). Naumoff is a continual RPAC supporter, and is a regular attendee at MAR and NAR programs, conventions, and events. Naumoff was the local Board President for 5 terms in North Ottawa, and is currently completing his second term as President of the West Michigan Lakeshore Association. He is the recipient of the REALTOR of the Year Award, WMLAR Lifetime Achievement Award, Rotary International’s Paul Harris Fellow Award, and currently serving as a Board Member for the Tri-Cities Habitat for Humanity. He is a former Elder and Chair for the Building Committee for The First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven. Naumoff’s passion for his profession encourages REALTORS to uphold their reputation, and their real estate career, by serving their clients, customers, and community with honesty and integrity. As well as sharing up-to-date real estate knowledge, keeping current with real estate trends, and being on the cutting edge of information technology. Naumoff resides in Spring Lake with his wife, Sharon. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

District 3 - Lola Audu

Lola has been involved in the real estate community in West Michigan for more than 18 years. As one of the early adopters of social media in Michigan, she wrote and taught the initial coursework in Social Media, and Blogging, that was certified for Continuing Education in the State of Michigan in 2007. She has also conducted courses on emerging technology at the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, several REALTOR associations, and other business organizations. Through the years, Audu has been actively involved in her local REALTOR association in various capacities; including service as a director and on committees and task forces. She was elected to serve as the President of the Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS in 2011. She was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by the Western Michigan Council Women’s Council of REALTORS. Audu is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Bachelor of Science), and holds the following real estate designations: Graduate Real Estate Institute (GRI), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Short Sale Foreclosure Specialist (SFR), and the e-Pro certification for competence with managing online transactions. In addition to her love of real estate and technology; she is an avid reader, music lover, and enjoys engaging conversation with an interesting and eclectic group of friends.

District 4 - Rick Loose

Rick Loose, REALTOR, e-PRO has 10+ years of real estate experience with Ayre Rhinehart REALTORS in Midland. He has served as President/Director for the Midland Board of REALTORS and has served on several board committees. Loose was selected Midland Board of REALTOR’S REALTOR of the Year for 2009. Loose currently chairs the Midland City Housing Commission, and is active on The Leadership Midland Steering Team.

District 5 - Art Yeotis

I started my real estate career in Boulder, Colorado, with the Boulder Board of REALTORS just before the Carter Presidency. I was active as a broker in Colorado until I moved back to Michigan 20 years ago and pursued my Michigan license. Before getting my Colorado license I served in the Army for two years; one of which I spent in Vietnam as a tank commander, earning the Bronze Star with the V device. Upon my return to Colorado, I attended the University of Colorado majoring in sociology. Leaving the university I purchased a bar and restaurant in Nederland, Colorado. I operated my business for 20 years, during which time I also served on the town board for eight years and as Mayor for two. As a member of Flint Area Association of REALTORS I have served on the MLS committee, served as a beta tester on the committees that chose the last two local MLS programs, and served as a member of the BOD, a member of the Broker Support Unit, and am on the Budget and Finance committee. I am a strong believer in RPAC, donating annually, and will serve as the new RPAC committee chair for our board. I am past president of my church parish, and serve on the city of Fenton land development finance authority.

District 6
- Carl Kaminski

Kaminski served as MAR District 6 Director from 2007-2010. He has been re-elected to the current Board, while finishing a three year appointment to the MAR Finance Committee. At Southwest Michigan Association of REALTORS he served as Director from ’02 through ’08, sitting as President in ’06. Licensed since ‘93, he received the GRI designation in ‘96, and became an Associate Broker that year with Prudential Red Arrow Realty; where he trained new agents from ‘94 through ‘08. He has served on the Standard Forms Committee since 1995, chairing it in ‘97, ‘00, ‘08, ‘11 and ‘12. Kaminski represented his local Association of REALTORS as a manager of the SWMRIC Board in ‘06 & ‘07. Named 2008 REALTOR of the Year by Southwestern Michigan Association of REALTORS, Kaminski received the President’s Cup from the association in ’07. Currently he is an Associate Broker with Pier Realty in St. Joseph, Michigan, and supervises the Galien Branch Office.

District 7 - Vance Shutes

Vance Shutes began his career as a full-time REALTOR in 1994 following his experience as a Plant manager, materials manager, and quality assurance manager for automotive suppliers. He presently holds the title of Associate Broker with Real Estate One Ann Arbor. Shutes is also a graduate of the REALTOR Institute (GRI), and holds the e-PRO designation. Shutes has closed hundreds of transactions, for over $75 million in total sales in his career. He grew up in Ann Arbor, and presently resides in Saline with his family. He has sold properties from South Lyon to Dundee, from Clinton to Canton, and specializes in his Saline. Known for his professionalism and attention to detail, Shutes is also comfortable in the spotlight of Real Estate sales. Shutes has served the Ann Arbor Area Board of REALTORS. He earned both an MBA and a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He looks forward to serving as District 7 Director for MAR.

District 8 - Ron Zupko

Ron Zupko is an Associate Broker at Re/Max Platinum in Brighton and has been a REALTOR serving Livingston County and the surrounding areas for more than 20 years. Born and raised in Detroit, Zupko moved to Livingston County in 1979, and has been a resident of the area ever since. After completing four years of military service in the U.S Navy, Zupko was anxious to start a career, so he quickly earned an Associate’s Degree and went to work as a residential builder. Prior to real estate, Zupko was the owner of a residential building company in Howell. He is currently a co-owner of a successful real estate team along with his wife, Jan, who is also an Associate Broker. They are both full time REALTORS operating at Re/Max Platinum in Brighton. Zupko has served on many committees at the Livingston County Association of REALTORS, was a member of their Board of Directors for eight years, and served as President in 2002 and 2007. He was named Livingston County’s REALTOR of the Year in 2003. Zupko has served as a manager of a large real estate office in Brighton, and also as the Principle Associate Broker at a smaller independent firm in Howell. In 2013, he was appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to the MI Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons. Zupko has two grown children, two grandsons, and currently lives in Brighton with his wife Jan.

District 9
- Allan Daniels 

Allan Daniels currently serves as chairman of the state of Michigan Mortgage Industry Advisory Board. The Board makes recommendations to the Commissioner of the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation: the state agency that regulates mortgage companies. Former OFIR Commissioner Ken Ross appointed Daniels to the board upon its formation in 2008, and Daniels was re-appointed by Commissioner Clinton in 2012. Additionally, Daniels was named to the Insurance and Finance Advisory Rules Committee, to produce advisory recommendations to the LARA Office of Regulatory Reinvention; working toward changes to Michigan’s regulatory climate. All in order to help ensure that Michigan’s regulatory environment is simple, fair, efficient, and conducive to business growth and job creation. In these roles, and on behalf of state and national trade associations, Daniels has provided industry testimony to committees of the Michigan House of Representatives, and the State Senate. Daniels is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and has been licensed in real estate since 1988. Daniels serves on the Government Affairs Committee of the North Oakland County Board of REALTORS.

District 10 - Tom Kotzian

Tom Kotzian, JD, GRI, has been a manager for the past 35 years in REALTOR associations and residential brokerage. Kotzian was the first Executive Officer of the Grosse Pointe Board of REALTORS, Executive Vice President of the Macomb County Board of REALTORS, and past President of the Michigan Executive Officers Council. Kotzian earned his undergraduate degree in education from Central Michigan University, and his Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. Kotzian is a certified instructor and administrator in professional standards for the National Association of REALTORS. He was selected as the Michigan Association of REALTORS Instructor of the Year, and was the author of the GRI I and II courses. Kotzian is currently a GRI instructor for the Michigan Association of REALTORS, and was the Contractual Researcher for the State of Michigan’s mandatory continuing education course outline from 1989-92. He has served as an advisor and parliamentarian for 25 MAR past-presidents. Kotzian is a past-president of the Metropolitan Consolidated Association of REALTORS and REALTOR of the Year. He was appointed by Governor Engler, and served as the past Chairman of the State of Michigan Board of Real Estate Brokers & Salespersons. He was also the Birmingham-Bloomfield WCR Member-of-the-Year, and Lake Pointe WCR Entrepreneur of the Year. Kotzian continues to provide business planning programs for the Livingston County Association of REALTORS, the Ann Arbor Area Association of REALTORS¨, Association Leadership Workshops, and Fair Housing Compliance Seminars for: The Greater Lansing Association of REALTORS, Monroe County Association of REALTORS, North Oakland County Board of REALTORS¨, Central Michigan Association of REALTORS, and Lenawee County Association of REALTORS. He was appointed by 2014 NAR President, Steve Brown, to serve as the Michigan representative on the Broker Involvement Council. Kotzian is the recipient of the 2012 Fair Housing Leadership Award from the Fair Housing Center of Metropolitan Detroit. He is a Partner and Team Leader for Keller Williams Realty Brighton in Brighton. Kotzian and his wife, Lynda, have 2 married children and 4 grandchildren.

District 11 - Sara Storch-Lipnitz

Sara Lipnitz, Associate Broker, SFR, PMN, has been involved in the real-estate industry for over 22 years; first in the commercial market, and for the past 12 years in residential sales. Lipnitz is an active selling REALTOR with a strong sales record. Having served on the local, state, and national level, she has a passion for the business and for those who are in the business. Lipnitz is a true leader in our industry, and has proven so over the years with consistent volunteerism. Currently, Lipnitz holds the following positions: National Association of REALTORS, RPAC Participation Council representing Michigan, Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Gary Peters; Michigan Association of REALTORS: RPAC Trustees Chairperson 2012 & 2013; Local Chapter President for WCR Birmingham-Bloomfield, WCR Michigan Ways & Means Committee Chair; GMAR Professional Standards Committee; GMAR RPAC Committee Member; 2013 RPAC President’s Circle Member, Greater Metropolitan Association of REALTORS: 2012 REALTOR of the Year. Past positions include, MAR RPAC Trustee 2009-2012, MAR Public Policy 2011 & 2012, MCAR Ethics Committee 2008-2011, GMAR Professional Standards Committee 2012, WCR Michigan Chapter Ways & Means Chair 2012, GMAR Diversity Committee 2011 & 2012, MCAR Nominating Committee 2009 & 2010, WCR Birmingham-Bloomfield President-Elect 2010 & 2011, RPAC Major Donor 2007-2013 and creating/founding member of the Birmingham-Bloomfield REALTOR Network. Lipnitz was born and raised in Michigan and currently resides in Birmingham with her husband and son. She attended Michigan State University; it was there where she decided to build a career in real estate. Lipnitz is also involved with several local charities such as CARE House, The Humane Society, Team Joseph, and Make-a-Wish Foundation. Committed with her time and investment in our industry; knowledgeable both in designations, and hands-on experience, Lipnitz is ready to serve the members of district 11.

District 12 - Alex Milshteyn

Alex Milshteyn is a REALTOR in Ann Arbor. He has over thirteen years of experience in real estate. In 2012, he sold 186 properties, totaling $32 Million in sales volume. In 2012, Milshteyn was named REALTOR¨of the Year by the Ann Arbor Area Board of REALTORS. He was honored by REALTOR Magazine as a member of the 2011 class of “30 under 30”. Milshteyn was named to the Crain’s Detroit Business “20 In Their 20s”. Crain’s 20s program highlights the brainpower and entrepreneurial talent of the Detroit Metro area’s young professionals. Milshteyn previously served as the President of the Ann Arbor Area Board of REALTORS. He is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), graduate of the REALTOR Institute (GRI), and an Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR). In addition to being the #1 producer in his company in Michigan, and a top REALTOR in the Ann Arbor area, Milshteyn was residential sales manager of two branch offices for his company from 2006-2008. Milshteyn runs a real estate team of 6 professionals titled: Alex Milshteyn Real Estate Associates.

District 13 - Suzanne O'Brien

Suzanne O’Brien actively sells real estate in the regional marketplace, and leads others in the process as a Broker for Real Estate One. After graduating with honors from the University of Michigan, and spending several years in marketing and advertising, O’Brien decided that real estate might fulfill a passion that incorporated her love of working with people, while providing a valuable service during their life transitions. Involved in the industry for more than a decade, O’Brien has served as Director and President of the Dearborn Area Board of REALTORS, Governor and Vice President of Realcomp, and Director of the DABOR Community Focus Foundation.

District 14 - David Botsford

David Botsford, Agent licensed since 1976 and Broker since 1979. Principal in 200 plus agent brokerage since 2002, prior specialized in all forms of commercial real estate, new home construction, sales, and marketing. Botsford was elected to serve as a NOCBOR Director in 2009, Chairman of the Grievance Committee 2011-2012, and was elected to the Real Comp Board of Governors December 2011. In October of 2012, he was elected to serve as the District 14 Representative on the Board of Directors, serving a two year term from 2013-2014.
