About Brenda

Hello, I am Brenda Goss Andrews, a retired Detroit Police Deputy Chief and I am running for District 14 Director. I retired after serving the citizens of the city of Detroit for close to 30 years. I worked in various capacities, starting off as a beat and patrol officer and being promoted through the ranks to Commander, where I oversaw the departments human resources department, which included hiring police officers and overseeing the department’s training section. I was later promoted to Deputy Chief and handled the department’s $400 million-dollar budget. My responsibilities also included overseeing the maintenance of 22 department buildings; negotiating leases and contracts for the police department as well as oversight of $30 million-dollars in federal and state grants. My duties included purchasing everything for the police department from pencils to vehicles and buildings.

Having handled the real estate of the police department, I decided that experience was a great segue into real estate upon my retirement. I received my real estate license in 2007 and have worked in the field for the past 11years.

I believe that a good Realtor must always continue to learn. I posses two designations, “Seller Representative Specialist” and the “Accredited Buyer’s Specialist” designations. I also attend several classes throughout the year for enrichment and to enhance my real estate knowledge. My most recent classes have included a two-day course on Commercial Real Estate and comparative market analysis.

I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Howard University and a masters’ degree from Michigan State University.

I enjoy real estate because I love working with people and making their dreams come true. Whether working on the seller or buyer side; most people want a real estate professional that respects their opinion, one that is honest and truthful; and a Realtor with passion and enthusiasm. I possess all these qualities and much more. I put my clients first.

I also stay connected with my community. I am the editor of our University District news magazine and serve on its Board. I bought my home in this community in 1992. My home was part of the 2016 UDCA Home Tour. I have been a part of the city of Detroit’s Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF), serving on the Citizens Review Committee for over 10 years before being appointed by the Detroit City Council as a Commissioner on the planning commission, where I continue to serve.

I believe Detroit and the metro Detroit area is growing and moving forward to being one of the best areas in the nation to live, work and play.

I believe my experience, skills and knowledge make me an ideal person to serve you as your 14th District Director. I will work closely with my constituency; local leaders in the community and legislators. I ask for your vote.

VOTE Brenda Goss Andrews for 14th District Director.
