I am honored to submit for your consideration my 2017 NAR Director Candidate Information and Personal Profile. This past August I started my 20th year as a Realtor®, and have been a proud and active member of our National, State, and local Associations since day one. At the local level I have worked on and been the Chairman of our Public Relations committee and Grievance Committee, and for the past 4 years have been serving as a member of the Board of Directors, last year as the Treasurer and this year as President. My goals this year have been to “raise the bar” by upholding high standards for its leaders and our members, consistently seeking ways to add member value while holding down costs, and making sure that our newest members are embraced and well informed throughout the year. And our success at my local Association is evidenced by record attendance at events and meetings, and eager volunteers willing to serve in different leadership positions. I am a RPAC Major Investor, and for the past 8 years have also been the managing Broker in the office that I work at. By serving as a NAR Director it is my desire to use my leadership experience and the skills I possess to the mutual benefit of the National Association of Realtors®, Michigan Realtors®, and all of their members.

Respectfully submitted,

Douglas Klaasen, Associate Broker, Realtor®

“Doug has been an outstanding leader for West Michigan Lakeshore Association of Realtors®. He has proven to be able to lead and think outside the box. His approach to the Real Estate community is very positive and enthusiastic. He would be an asset to the Michigan Realtors®.”

“It is with great pleasure that I endorse Realtor® Doug Klaasen for the position of NAR Director in the Mid-Sized Association category. Doug has proven himself over the years to maintain the highest of ethical and moral standards, and found himself elected to the WMLAR Board of Directors and ultimately rose to the position of President for 2016. He has been an outstanding leader, a thoughtful listener, and a model for future Presidents to follow. A regular attendee at State Conventions and events, he is also a RPAC Major investor, and has attended the NAR meetings in Washington DC and the annual conventions. Doug has given this opportunity a great deal of thought and takes it very seriously, and he is a prime candidate for this position”.
