Appraiser license requirements

The requirements for obtaining and maintaining a real estate appraiser’s license in Michigan are mandated by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth. To obtain a real estate appraiser’s license, an applicant must have at least 75 hours of pre-licensure coursework plus the 15 hour National USPAP course. To maintain a license, a real estate appraiser must complete 28 hours of continuing education per two-year education cycle. These requirements assist the state in making sure that Michigan’s appraisers are well-qualified and up-to-date on current law, practice, and technological advances. On this section of the MiCREA Web site, appraisers and those interested in becoming a licensed appraiser can access information about current pre-licensure and continuing education courses offered throughout Michigan.
